The Name Behind the Brand

Friends, if you don't know me, my name is Bailey DeGroat. I'm a second year veterinary at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. I started making jewelry in 2019 to raise money and attend the American Pre-Veterinary Medicine Association (APVMA) Symposium. Fast Forward two years, and I have curated The Turquoise Vet to share my passion for southwestern style jewelry and veterinary medicine.

It's been made evident I'm not a typical 8 AM to 5 PM small business owner. Completing rigorous course work successfully and operating The Turquoise Vet can be challenging from time to time. However, I wouldn't have it any other way as it's given me ample opportunities to obtain my primary career goals.

Once achieving my DVM, I plan to directly serve as a food animal practitioner with aspirations to specialize in bovine medicine. Furthermore, I plan to offer educational strategies to improve rural sustainability, including knowledge of herd health, food nutrition, forage management, reproductive management, and other everyday needs of food animal producers and operations. However, if there is anything I’ve learned so far in this life is that God has a much greater plan than what we can ever imagine. So as long as I’m serving a community through quality veterinary care with the potential of teaching veterinary medicine and spreading the gospel/glorifying God, I will be happy.

While I cannot make these specific contributions until I complete my DVM, I work directly with students and veterinarians to motivate, inspire, and build the future of veterinary medicine. Explicitly speaking, I create informational materials for educational purposes through Black Label Farms Virtual Rancher Program. This allows my ability to start implementing educational strategies for cattle producers under the supervision of Dr. Marissa Hake. Additionally, I utilize my social media platform to speak on my journey within veterinary medicine, offer techniques to defeat imposter syndrome, and overcome mental health challenges.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding my products, an order,  veterinary school advice, VMCAS applications, or speaking opportunities please do not hesitate to email TheTurquoiseVet@gmail.com. Thank you for believing my visions, trusting my abilities, supporting my small business, and being apart of The Turquoise Vet. A 'thank you' doesn't truly express how much gratitude I have for each and every one of you.
